Job Description: We are seeking a DevOps Engineer with hands-on experience building, automating and operating large-scale systems. You will join an exceptional team spread across the globe, tackling challenging technical problems in EdTech and building systems, tools, and platforms on which Turnitin’s infrastructure and applications are deployed and operated.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate cross-functionally with the Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Support teams.
• Help break down projects and features into smaller, manageable tasks for the team to work on.
• Assist with setting up and maintaining infrastructure in both on‑premises and AWS environments, following established designs and guidance from senior team members.
• Contribute readable, testable, maintainable and documented code when making changes to our infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) systems like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Contribute readable, testable, maintainable and documented code when managing configuration for our infrastructure through Configuration as Code (IaC) systems like Ansible or Puppet.
• Ensure systems and platforms relied upon by both external and internal customers are fault-tolerant and highly available.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with AWS Serverless technologies and an interest in learning and growing in that area.
• Working knowledge of containerization technology (Docker) and administration of distributed container orchestration like Kubernetes (including EKS/AKS/GKE) or ECS.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
• Demonstrable experience troubleshooting full‑stack production systems (including network, storage, compute layers, and service dependencies such as DNS, databases, etc.).
• Experience with continuous integration and delivery platforms such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Bitbucket Pipelines.
• A fundamental understanding of microservices, micro front-ends and distributed architecture.
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging in cloud-native environments, including CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, and OpenSearch.
