Design and Analysis Engineer to join our team in Gdansk, Poland.
BGS Supply Chain Engineering is responsible for supporting internal and external requests to resolve engineering issues, providing full support for the release process, and assisting other Boeing teams on spare parts matters to ensure operational continuity. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and timely task completion. They must be able to work collaboratively, effectively engage subject‑matter experts and other stakeholders to achieve shared objectives, prioritize work, and meet established deadlines. The candidate should possess strong communication skills and the ability to interact positively with individuals at all levels to resolve engineering and technical issues, and to develop and implement solutions.
Position Responsibilities
- Analysis of engineering issues across multiple disciplines: conduct thorough reviews of technical documentation, identify root causes, and evaluate potential solutions using established company standards, best practices, and effective cross‑functional communication with subject‑matter experts.
- Support for post‑release inquiries: investigate and respond to any internal or external questions or defects related to released configurations or parts, coordinate corrective actions, and ensure traceability of findings and resolutions.
- Full support of the draft/engineering change process: manage and maintain draft documentation and engineering change packages in accordance with company standards, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and readiness for formal review.
- Release process facilitation and stakeholder coordination: lead communications with suppliers, approvers, and certifying engineers to drive timely approvals, resolve technical discrepancies, and ensure released parts meet applicable specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Continuous learning and tool proficiency: proactively acquire skills in new software, analysis tools, and engineering methodologies to improve individual and team effectiveness and to leverage emerging technologies for process improvements.
- Participation in cross‑functional teams for parts development: collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, procurement, and supply chain teams to support the development, qualification, and sustainment of spare parts and to identify opportunities that enhance product reliability, cost‑efficiency, and supportability.
- Active involvement in tracking and approval meetings: attend and contribute to meetings with package‑tracking teams and approving authorities, provide technical input and status updates, elevate risks and blockers, and help ensure timely closure of action items.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience)
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master).
- Upper‑intermediate level of English.
- Experience in reading, researching and understanding engineering drawings.
- Familiar with the main principles of work with databases and software products.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
- Understanding of materials and finishes: deep knowledge of material properties (metals, composites, polymers), surface treatments, coatings, corrosion resistance, and selection criteria to ensure durability, manufacturability, and regulatory compliance. Ability to evaluate material trade‑offs for strength, weight, fatigue life, environmental exposure, and maintenance implications.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes: familiarity with production methods such as machining, casting, forging, stamping, additive manufacturing, and composite layup. Experience assessing process capabilities, tolerances, scalability, cost drivers, and process control requirements to support design for manufacturability and supply chain decisions.
- Metalworking expertise: practical and theoretical understanding of metalworking techniques including turning, milling, grinding, drilling, welding, heat treatment, and surface finishing. Ability to interpret machining tolerances, select appropriate toolpaths and fixtures, and collaborate with shop floor personnel to resolve production and quality issues.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling: strong skills in CAD systems for part and assembly modeling, generation of manufacturing drawings, tolerance analysis, and virtual design validation. Experience creating models for tolerance stackups, interference checks, and downstream uses such as CAM, FEA, and technical documentation.
