Job summary

Samba in Warsaw is seeking a mid‑level Data Scientist to own end‑to‑end delivery of major data science projects with minimal guidance. You will contribute expert-level Python and PySpark work, build production‑ready pipelines on Databricks, and mentor junior scientists while collaborating closely with product and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field is required; Master's preferred.
• 3–5 years of hands-on data science experience with end-to-end project ownership.
• Advanced Python with production-quality code, testing, and documentation; strong SQL and PySpark for large datasets.
• Experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, and job orchestration; cloud platform knowledge (AWS or GCP).
• Solid ML proficiency: regression, classification, clustering, evaluation; experimental design.
• MLOps practices: experiment tracking, pipelines (Airflow), reproducible deployments.
• Exposure to modern AI: RAG, LLM-augmented models, vector databases, semantic search.
• Strong communication and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of significant data science projects from scoping to production deployment.
• Make independently reasoned methodological decisions with clear documentation.
• Lead solution design; break epics into well-scoped user stories with clear criteria.
• Build production-quality Python and PySpark code on Databricks; ensure tests and reuse.
• Develop reusable tools, libraries, and documentation; conduct code reviews to raise standards.
• Mentor junior data scientists; run internal talks or workshops on ML topics.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and operations; translate business requirements into technical specs.
