Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a Data Engineer to design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines. You will work with senior engineers on streaming and batch processing, gaining hands-on experience with Spark, Flink, Pinot, and Iceberg in a hybrid setup based in Bratislava.

Collaboration with software engineers, product management, and data teams is essential to deliver high-quality analytics. You’ll participate in the full software lifecycle, improve observability, and leverage AI

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
3+ years of professional data engineering or software engineering experience.
Foundational knowledge of data processing frameworks (Spark, Flink) or distributed systems.
Strong understanding of software development concepts; eager to learn new tech.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain data pipelines for streaming and batch processing.
Develop and optimize data workflows using Pinot, Iceberg, Flink and Spark.
Participate in the full software development lifecycle: design, code reviews and testing.
Improve data pipeline performance, reliability, and observability; resolve issues.
Leverage AI coding tools to accelerate productivity and learning.
Collaborate with software engineers, product management, and data teams.
Participate in incident resolution and learn from production issues.
