Job summary

HSBC is hiring for a Crypto Engineer to strengthen cryptographic controls across platforms and services in Poland. You will support a range of cryptography initiatives, including assessments, analysis, testing and troubleshooting across certificate lifecycle management, SSH key discovery, and HSMs.

You will work with a small team to drive secure-by-design outcomes, automate processes, and contribute to post-quantum readiness activities in a dynamic banking environment.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of encryption, signing, certificates and cipher algorithms.
• Experience with Windows and Unix operating systems in enterprise contexts.
• Hands-on with VMware, Linux/Windows infra, networks and security controls.
• Automation experience with Terraform, Ansible and scripting (Python).
• Familiarity with GitHub, Jenkins and software release tooling.
• Knowledge of SQL databases and RBAC/Privileged Access Management.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow and RFC-driven change management.
• Interest in cryptography and post-quantum readiness activities.
• Strong collaboration and debugging skills in a small engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to cryptography initiatives and secure-by-design outcomes.
• Assist with PKI lifecycle management and certificate operations.
• Support SSH key discovery and related control improvements.
• Participate in HSM testing and validation activities.
• Provide input on post-quantum readiness considerations.
• Collaborate with engineers to share ideas and improve solutions.
• Perform analysis and debugging to resolve cryptography issues.
• Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve workflows.
• Report findings and contribute to secure deployment practices.
