We are looking for an experienced Chief Accountant to join our Finance team in Warsaw. This is a hands-on management position with responsibility for the company's accounting operations, statutory reporting, tax compliance and financial closing processes.
The role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior management and cross-functional teams in an international and dynamic business environment, while taking ownership of key accounting processes and ensuring compliance with Polish regulations and company policies.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, including general ledger, AP/AR, accruals, provisions, fixed assets and reconciliations.
- Prepare and review statutory financial statements and other reports in accordance with Polish accounting regulations.
- Oversee tax compliance, including VAT, CIT, WHT and transfer pricing.
- Ensure accurate reconciliations and maintain the integrity and completeness of accounting records.
- Monitor changes in Polish and EU accounting and tax regulations and assess their impact on accounting processes.
- Coordinate and support external and statutory audits, working closely with auditors, tax advisors and other external stakeholders.
- Oversee accounting processes related to KSeF, JPK and e-invoicing.
- Supervise and coordinate accounting team members and offshore/shared services support.
- Maintain and improve accounting controls, policies, procedures and processes.
- Work closely with Finance, IT and other stakeholders on financial systems and process improvements.
- Provide accounting support and financial information to the Finance Manager and Management, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and inventory-related activities.
- Be available for occasional business visits and working days at the Company's office near Radom.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably including experience in a senior or Chief Accountant role within an international organisation.
- Strong knowledge of Polish accounting principles, statutory reporting and Polish and EU tax regulations.
- Practical knowledge of VAT, CIT, excise and other relevant tax requirements.
- Proven experience in month-end and year-end closing, statutory reporting, reconciliations and audits.
- Experience with KSeF and JPK will be an advantage.
- Good command of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken (B2/C1).
- Hands-on approach and ability to independently manage accounting activities and take ownership of processes.
- Experience supervising or coordinating accounting teams and/or shared services teams.
- Strong analytical, organisational, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail and accountability.
- Category B driving licence and willingness to travel to the Company's office near Radom when required.
