Job description

We are looking for a precise and detail-oriented CAD Engineer / Drafter to join our mechanical design team developing space hardware (including antenna systems and deployable structures). The ideal candidate combines strong proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (Autodesk Inventor or similar) with advanced expertise in technical drawing preparation, geometric dimensioning, and tolerancing (GD&T). Experience or interest in hands‑on mechanical assembly and hardware integration is a distinct advantage.

Must-have Experience & Knowledge
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline
  • CAD Software Expertise: Minimum 2–3 years of professional experience in 3D CAD modeling and 2D drafting using Autodesk Inventor or similar (part modeling, large assemblies, sheet metal, and frame design).
  • GD&T & Drafting Standards: Deep understanding and practical application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T according to ISO 1101 or ASME Y14.5) and international drafting standards.
  • Tolerance Analysis: Ability to perform stack-up tolerance calculations to ensure correct fit, form, and function of mechanical assemblies.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Familiarity with standard manufacturing processes (CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, surface treatments) and Design for Manufacturing / Assembly (DFM/DFA) principles.
  • Technical Documentation: Experience in preparing detailed manufacturing/execution drawings, assembly drawings, and generating accurate Bills of Materials (BOM).
Core Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain detailed 3D models of components, sub-assemblies, and mechanical interfaces in Autodesk Inventor.
  • Prepare comprehensive 2D production and assembly drawings with complete GD&T specifications, surface finish details, and material callouts.
  • Perform stack-up tolerance analyses and clearance/interference checks on complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Generate and manage Bills of Materials (BOM), part numbering, and drawing revision control
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, structural, RF, and thermal engineers to implement design changes and optimize hardware geometry.
  • Incorporate manufacturing and assembly feedback into updated drawing packages and ECN (Engineering Change Notice) workflows.
  • Support preparation of technical documentation and technical data packages for external manufacturing suppliers and customers.
Technical Skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD tool (3D modeling, assembly design, drawing environment).
  • Solid knowledge of GD&T symbols, datums, feature control frames, and measurement strategies.
  • Basic understanding of space-qualified materials (aerospace aluminium alloys, titanium, CFRP composites, stainless steel fasteners).
  • Ability to interpret engineering specifications and functional interface requirements.
  • Nice to have: Experience with PDM/PLM documentation management tools
  • Nice to have: Hands‑on Hardware Assembly Experience: Practical experience in mechanical assembly, integration, cleanroom hardware handling, or prototype building (assembling structures, mechanisms, or aerospace payloads).

Nice to have: Familiarity with space industry standards (ECSS-E-ST-10, ECSS-Q-ST-70) or aerospace quality frameworks.

Nice to have: Experience in designing precision structures, deployable mechanisms, or space antenna components.

Required Competencies
  • Good communication skills in English (written and spoken) for reviewing technical specifications and working with international suppliers.
  • Structured approach to data management and document version control.
  • Strong team-player mindset with a practical, hands‑on engineering attitude.
  • Exceptional precision, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
