Job summary

Mapbox is seeking a skilled C++ Developer to contribute to the Navigation Native team. You will build and maintain a high-performance C++17 library that runs on iOS, Android, and embedded hardware, while refining map-matching and route following.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in C++17 and newer; deep language understanding.
• Clean, fast, portable code within CPU/memory constraints.
• Experience with graph-based structures, data structures, and spatial algorithms.
• Proven cross-platform development across Linux, mobile, or embedded systems.
• Strong English skills for technical trade-offs and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a unified C++17 library across iOS, Android, and embedded hardware.
• Analyze and improve map-matching and dead-reckoning algorithms with real data.
• Implement route-following features and high-frequency route progress reporting.
• Work on road object matching (OpenLR) and live traffic incidents for predictive insights.
• Design caching for routing tiles and manage on-board resources like junction views.
• Integrate and extend Valhalla routing engine for offline routing and refresh controllers.
• Apply AI thoughtfully to improve design, development, and code quality.
