Job summary

Michael Page is recruiting a Branch Director for a UK-headquartered logistics group operating across Europe. The role is based in Poland, leading the Polish transport operation with responsibility for growth, profitability and service excellence.

You will manage drivers, planners and operational staff, push for new business, optimise costs and collaborate with the UK HQ on strategic initiatives to scale the business in Poland and beyond.

Qualifications

• Hands-on transport leader with entrepreneurial mindset.

• Strong knowledge of the European road freight market.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for operational and commercial performance of the Łódź/Wrocław transport operation.
• Develop and manage drivers, planners and operational staff to high service levels.
• Ensure cost efficiency, fleet utilisation and profitability.
• Oversee international road transport operations across Europe and build carrier network.
• Acquire new B2B customers and develop the customer portfolio.
• Collaborate with UK headquarters on growth strategy and budgets.
• Identify new business opportunities and potential ADR transport services.
• Prepare business cases for fleet expansion and growth.

Our Client is a UK-headquartered group of logistics companies operating across transportation and warehousing in the UK and Europe. We are therefore looking for a commercially minded operational leader who can help turn opportunities into profitable and scalable business lines.

Your responsibilities

• Taking full responsibility for the operational and commercial performance of the Wrocław business
• Managing and developing the local transport operation, including drivers, planners and operational staff
• Ensuring high standards of service, fleet utilisation, cost efficiency and profitability
• Managing the day-to-day international road transport operations across Europe
• Actively developing the customer portfolio and acquiring new B2B customers
• Building and maintaining long-term relationships with customers, carriers and other key business partners
• Identifying and developing new business opportunities in the Polish market
• Supporting the development of cooperation with Amazon and evaluating dedicated transport opportunities
• Assessing and developing the company's freight forwarding business
• Building a reliable network of carrier partners
• Development of ADR transport services
• Preparing business cases and proposals for fleet expansion and further business growth
• Managing budgets, KPIs and key profitability drivers
• Optimising transport costs, fleet utilisation and operational processes
• Working closely with the UK headquarters on the company's growth strategy
• Taking ownership of the implementation of agreed growth initiatives

Our requirements

• We are looking for a hands-on transport leader with an entrepreneurial mindset, rather than a purely corporate executive.
• Several years of experience in a leadership role within an international road transport company
• Strong knowledge of the European road freight market
• Experience developing new business areas or scaling an existing transport operation
• Practical experience managing international transport operations
• Experience managing drivers, planners, dispatchers and operational teams
• Good understanding of transport economics, pricing, fleet utilisation and profitability
• Proven experience in business development and acquiring new B2B customers
• Experience improving operational efficiency and business profitability
• Strong commercial awareness combined with operational expertise
• High level of independence, ownership and accountability
• Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to be directly involved in day-to-day operations
