Job summary

The Nielsen Company is seeking a detail-oriented Billing & Revenue Recognition Controller to bridge Sales operations and Finance, ensuring contract integrity and accurate revenue recognition for the German market. Qualifications

• Experience in Billing, Revenue Operations, or Financial Controlling with a gatekeeping mindset.
• Advanced SAP (FI/CO or SD) experience; SAP 4HANA preferred.
• Experience with Salesforce CRM for contract terms and lifecycle management.
• Strong Excel skills with Pivot Tables and advanced formulas.
• Fluency in German and English (C1/C2) for compliance and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve incoming contracts and Sales Orders to ensure alignment with pricing and legal requirements.
• Act as the primary gatekeeper for contract integrity and billability with Sales.
• Manage end-to-end billing for the German market, including VAT compliance.
• Perform monthly revenue recognition under IFRS 15 / ASC 606 and post related journal entries.
• Reconcile revenue accounts and run SAP transactions for deferred/unbilled revenue and intercompany postings.
• Generate weekly and monthly billing and revenue reports; maintain data integrity in SAP and Salesforce.

This role can be remote, within Poland. If you are located in Warsaw we can offer a hybrid contract.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Billing & Revenue Recognition Controller to join our finance team. In this role, you will act as a critical bridge between our Sales operations and Finance departments, ensuring that every contract is following our policies and standards, every invoice is accurate, and every cent of revenue is recognized in strict accordance with accounting standards.

You will have primary ownership over the German market, serving as the \"gatekeeper\" for contract integrity and the driver of seamless billing cycles.

Key Responsibilities

1. Contract Gatekeeping & Sales Collaboration

• Review and approve incoming contracts and Sales Orders to ensure alignment with company pricing policies and legal requirements.
• Act as the primary point of contact for the Sales team, providing guidance on contract structuring to ensure \"billability.\"
• Partner with the Revenue Controllership team to ensure everything within contracts is correct and in accordance with policies.

2. Billing Operations (German Market)

• Manage the end-to-end billing cycle for our German customer base, ensuring local tax (VAT) compliance and language requirements.
• Resolve billing discrepancies and manage credit memo processes efficiently.
• Maintain accurate customer master data within our ERP and CRM systems.

3. Revenue Recognition & Month-End Close

• Perform monthly revenue recognition procedures to ensure compliance with IFRS 15 / ASC 606 standards.
• Prepare and post journal entries related to deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, and revenue adjustments.
• Reconcile revenue accounts and provide variance analysis.
• Execute critical Month-End Close activities to ensure financial accuracy and timeline adherence.
• Run and manage SAP transactions specifically for:
  • Deferred Revenue and Unbilled Revenue calculations.
  • Intercompany (ICY) reconciliations and postings.
  • Automated and manual Revenue Recognition runs.
• Perform comprehensive Account Reconciliations to ensure the integrity of the GLs.

4. Reporting & Systems Management

• Generate weekly and monthly reports on billing status, aging receivables, and recognized revenue.
• Utilize and maintain data integrity across our core tech stack (SAP, Salesforce).
• Contribute to the optimization of billing workflows and system automation projects.

Experience

Previous experience in Billing, Revenue Operations, or Financial Controlling with a \"gatekeeping\" mindset.

Required Skills

• SAP experience essential: Advanced proficiency in SAP (FI/CO or SD modules) - SAP 4Hana is preferred. You should be comfortable navigating complex accounting structures.
• Salesforce (CRM): Experience managing contract terms and tracking customer lifecycles within the CRM environment is desired.
• MS Office Suite: Strong Excel skills are a must (Pivot Tables, advanced formulas, and robust data analysis).
• Google Suite: Fluency in Google Sheets for collaborative reporting and tracking is desired.
• Language Proficiency: Professional-level fluency in German and English (C1/C2level) is essential for both local compliance and global reporting.

Compensation

The stated salary range represents the full compensation scale for this level. To allow for future progression and development, new employees are typically hired into the lower to middle portion of this range. An individual's exact starting salary at Nielsen depends on several factors, including geographic location, skills, experience, training, certifications, and other business needs.

The annual salary for this position ranges from 106400 - 177300 PLN gross.
