Job summary

Capgemini seeks a Backup Engineer to maintain and improve enterprise backup and recovery services built on Veeam and Dell PowerProtect Data Domain. You will help ensure availability, security, and recoverability of critical data, lead recovery activities, and drive improvements across components and teams.

You will collaborate with architects and engineers, develop automation, and document procedures to ensure reliable, scalable backup operations in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on with Veeam Backup & Replication, Veeam ONE, and related tools.
• Experience with Dell PowerProtect Data Domain in enterprise backups.
• Knowledge of VMware/Hyper‑V workloads and DR concepts.

Responsibilities

• Own and support enterprise backup and recovery services based on Veeam and Dell PowerProtect Data Domain.
• Ensure reliable backup operations through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of incidents.
• Lead backup, restore, and disaster recovery activities per objectives and policies.
• Optimize backup performance, resilience, automation, and processes to improve service delivery.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders on backup solutions and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance on backup and recovery services.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and procedures.
• Create and support automation scripts to enhance backup operations.

Your role

As a Backup Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving enterprise backup and recovery services built on Veeam and Dell PowerProtect Data Domain technologies. You will help ensure the availability, security, and recoverability of critical business data, lead recovery activities, drive service improvements, and collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to deliver resilient and reliable backup solutions.

Your tasks

• Own and support enterprise backup and recovery services based on Veeam and Dell PowerProtect Data Domain.
• Ensure reliable backup operations through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex incidents and recurring issues.
• Lead backup, restore, and disaster recovery activities in line with recovery objectives, retention policies, and security requirements.
• Optimize backup performance, resilience, automation, and operational processes to continuously improve service delivery.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and customer stakeholders on backup solutions and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance on backup and recovery services.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
• Create and support automation scripts that enhance backup service operations.

Your profile

• You have strong hands-on experience with Veeam Backup & Replication, Veeam ONE, Veeam Recovery Orchestrator, and Veeam Enterprise Manager.
• You have experience working with Dell PowerProtect Data Domain in enterprise backup environments.
• You have experience protecting and recovering workloads hosted on VMware and Hyper-V.
• You have knowledge of disaster recovery, backup security, immutability, and retention practices.
• You have experience using ServiceNow in a service‑focused environment.
• You have knowledge of integrating Veeam with the Zabbix monitoring platform.
• You demonstrate strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills and enjoy collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• You have scripting and automation skills using technologies such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, or REST APIs, and an understanding of other enterprise backup solutions.
