Job summary

Capgemini Polska is seeking a senior virtualization engineer to design, operate, and optimize enterprise VMware vSphere and Nutanix environments in a hybrid Poland-based setting. You will ensure high availability, security, and performance for critical business services, while driving automation and AI-based improvements to daily operations.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to DR readiness, and participate in platform upgrades and capacity planning.

Qualifications

• 6+ years hands-on experience with enterprise virtualization platforms.
• Strong experience with VMware vSphere components (ESXi, vCenter, clusters, HA, DRS).
• Proven Nutanix experience (AOS, Prism, VM operations).
• Solid Wintel infrastructure and Windows Server administration in virtualized envs.
• Experience with backup/DR solutions like Veeam or SRM.
• Hands-on automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Ability to use AI-driven platforms to support troubleshooting and automation.
• Good networking/storage understanding in virtualization (vSwitches, VLANs, iSCSI, NFS, FC).
• ITIL familiarity and strong cross-functional collaboration.
• Excellent communication and English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design, operate, and optimize VMware vSphere environments (ESXi, vCenter, clusters, HA, DRS).
• Administer Nutanix platforms (AOS, Prism, VM lifecycle, monitoring).
• Maintain Wintel/Windows Server in virtualized environments (patch, stability).
• Troubleshoot across virtualization, OS, storage, and network layers; root-cause analysis.
• Support and improve backup/DR solutions (Veeam, SRM).
• Design and implement automation (scripts, workflows, runbooks).
• Leverage AI-enabled tooling to accelerate analysis and reporting.
• Collaborate with infra, network, storage, security, and automation teams.
• Enforce security best practices, access controls, and compliance.
• Participate in platform upgrades, capacity planning, and service improvement.
• Provide expert support during major incidents and post-incident reviews.

Your role

You design, operate, and maintain enterprise‑class virtualization platforms based on VMware and Nutanix technologies that support critical business services. You ensure high availability, performance, security, and resilience of Wintel and Windows‑based virtual environments used by large-scale infrastructures.

You act as a senior technical authority for virtualization services, supporting operations teams, resolving complex incidents, and advising internal stakeholders on platform improvements, stability, and disaster recovery readiness. You actively leverage automation and AI‑enabled platforms to optimize daily operational activities, reduce manual effort, and improve service efficiency. You take ownership of virtualization reliability and contribute to continuous improvement of infrastructure services.

Your tasks

• Design, operate, and optimize VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, clusters, HA, DRS, and resource management.
• Administer and support Nutanix platforms, including AOS, Prism, cluster operations, VM lifecycle management, and performance monitoring.
• Maintain and troubleshoot Wintel and Windows Server environments running on virtual platforms, ensuring OS stability, patch compliance, and performance.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting across virtualization, OS, storage, and network layers, including root‑cause analysis of complex incidents.
• Support and improve backup and disaster recovery solutions, including tools such as Veeam Backup and/or VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM).
• Design, implement, and utilize automation solutions (e.g. scripts, workflows, runbooks) to streamline provisioning, maintenance, monitoring, and incident response activities.
• Use AI‑based platforms or intelligent tooling to accelerate analysis, troubleshooting, reporting, and operational decision‑making in daily activities.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, network, storage, security, and automation teams to increase platform stability and operational efficiency.
• Implement and enforce security best practices, access controls, and compliance standards within virtualization environments.
• Participate in platform upgrades, lifecycle management, capacity planning, and continuous service improvement initiatives.
• Provide expert‑level support during major incidents and contribute to post‑incident reviews, including automation and prevention opportunities.

Your profile

• Minimum 6 years of hands‑on experience with enterprise virtualization platforms.
• Strong practical experience with VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter Server, clusters, HA, DRS).
• Proven experience with Nutanix environments (AOS, Prism, cluster and VM operations).
• Solid background in Wintel infrastructure and Microsoft Windows Server administration within virtualized environments.
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions, such as Veeam Backup, VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM), or equivalent tools.
• Hands‑on experience with automation technologies and scripting (e.g. PowerShell, Bash, Python, workflow tools) to improve operational efficiency.
• Ability to effectively use AI‑driven platforms and tools to support troubleshooting, incident analysis, automation, and reporting activities.
• Good understanding of networking and storage concepts related to virtualization (vSwitches, VLANs, iSCSI, NFS, Fibre Channel).
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to resolve complex, cross‑domain technical issues.
• Familiarity with ITIL-based operations and enterprise service delivery models.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
