Job summary

AgileEngine, LLC. is seeking a Backend Software Engineer in Poznań to build and maintain PHP-based backend systems powering distributed services.

You will apply strong OOP and design patterns to ensure secure, scalable APIs and robust performance across environments. The role requires 2 years in PHP production environments, knowledge of MySQL/PostgreSQL, and experience with Git, CI/CD, and containerized workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS/SE.
• 2 years of backend software engineering experience.
• Experience with PHP production environments.
• Solid understanding of OOP, design patterns, algorithms and data structures.
• Experience building backend systems and service integrations.
• Proficiency in secure API design and auth concepts.
• Experience with relational DBs (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized environments.
• Ability to debug, optimize, and deliver reliable solutions.
• Good communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
• Overlap with Western European Time and weekend migration support.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend systems, APIs, and integrations powering products and services.
• Contribute to distributed systems and microservices for scalability and reliability.
• Apply OOP and solid architectural patterns for extensibility.
• Implement and maintain secure authentication and authorization (OAuth2, JWT, RBAC).
• Use data structures, algorithms, and caching to optimize performance.
• Debug, profile, and tune performance across environments.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, QA, and support teams.
• Participate in testing strategies and code reviews, and maintain docs.
