Job summary

Jit is seeking a back-end developer to join a mature, self-organised agile team. You’ll develop Python/Scala back-end services on AWS, build serverless features, and collaborate with product owners and frontend developers to deliver complete features.

You should have 3+ years of backend experience, strong SQL/NoSQL knowledge, and English proficiency for daily interactions in an international environment. Hybrid work includes one day weekly in Gdańsk office.

• 3+ years of back-end development experience with Python or Scala.
• 2–3+ years hands-on experience with AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, DynamoDB, S3).
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB), including data modeling and query optimization.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of good coding practices, unit/integration testing, code reviews and Git.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly CloudFormation.

Work model : Hybrid – 1 day per week from the Gdańsk office

Project

Join a mature, self-organised agile team responsible for customer-facing tracking products. The project focuses on consolidating tracking channels into a single customer entry point, introducing new customer notifications and scaling event-driven APIs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain back-end services and APIs on AWS.
• Build serverless and event-driven features using Lambda, SQS and EventBridge.
• Write clean, tested and maintainable code, and take part in code reviews.
• Work with product owners, front-end developers and architects to deliver features from start to finish.
• Help monitor, troubleshoot and improve services running in production.

Expected competences and knowledge

3+ years of back-end development experience with Python or Scala.

2–3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services, including Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, EventBridge (including Pipes), DynamoDB and S3.

Practical experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g. DynamoDB), including data modelling and query optimisation.

Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.

Knowledge of good coding practices, unit and integration testing, code reviews and version control (Git).

Experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly CloudFormation.

Genuine interest in technology and architecture, with an openness to exploring and discussing different solutions.

Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Nice to have

• Previous Scala experience is a plus. Alternatively, a Kotlin or Java background.
• Observability: Experience with CloudWatch, X-Ray or similar monitoring tools.
• Understanding of HL IT products and the container shipping business.
