Lever, Inc. is seeking a Backend Software Engineer (Poland) for a fully remote, globally distributed startup. You will design scalable APIs, build robust backend services, and own projects across the full development lifecycle from research to deployment.

This hands‑on role rewards ownership and clear written English. Expect collaboration with experienced founders, fast‑moving teams, and a two‑week paid work trial with meetings on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 2:30 PM GMT.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of web API architecture and scalable APIs.
• Professional backend software engineering experience end-to-end.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English in asynchronous environments.
• Willingness to participate in a two-week full-time paid work trial.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop highly scalable, well-documented APIs.
• Lead backend initiatives from research through deployment.
• Create Engineering Requirement Documents translating ideas into clear technical plans.
• Build automated test suites to ensure quality and reliability.
• Implement analytics and monitoring for feature impact.
• Contribute to high-scale backend systems and messaging infrastructure.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders in an asynchronous environment.
