Job summary

Aon plc is seeking an Azure Data Engineer in Kraków to design and deliver scalable data pipelines, Lakehouse solutions, and governed data platforms on Azure. You will leverage PySpark, SQL, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Power BI enablement to deliver secure, high-performing data solutions.

The role combines hands-on engineering with data governance and collaboration with BI teams to enable analytics across the organization. The position offers a hybrid 50/50 model and fully remote options.

Qualifications

• Experience designing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines on Azure Databricks.
• Strong knowledge of Delta Lake and data-lake patterns (bronze/silver/gold).
• Experience implementing Unity Catalog, RBAC, and auditing.
• Ability to build performance-optimized datasets for Power BI and analytics.
• Collaboration with BI developers to define semantic models and data contracts.
• Independent work style with time-management and deadline discipline.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate workshops to discuss, review and document business reporting requirements.
• Establish best practices across data architecture, governance, security, performance, and platform reliability.
• Develop scalable data integration pipelines on Azure Databricks using PySpark, SQL, Notebooks, Jobs, and Workflows.
• Build Lakehouse architectures using Delta Lake and bronze, silver, and gold data layers for analytics.
• Craft robust, reusable data transformation systems and libraries.
• Implement and manage Unity Catalog for centralized governance of data, tables, and permissions.
• Define and enforce RBAC, data access controls, and auditing.
• Standardize catalog, schema, and table naming conventions across environments.
• Deliver well-modeled, performance-optimized datasets for Power BI and analytics tools.
• Collaborate with BI developers to define semantic models and refresh strategies.
