HSBC Holdings plc in Kraków seeks a capable software professional for Global Risk Analytics, Financial Engineering. You will prototype and develop analytic platforms, using Python to build and test solutions that improve risk model development and deployment across the Group.

The role involves collaborating with modellers and analysts, delivering polished software for business use, and providing technical leadership within a dynamic, exploratory environment.

Your career opportunity
Global Risk Analytics supports HSBC’s risk measurement and risk analysis agenda in a highly regulated global environment. Within this area a dedicated research and development unit - Financial Engineering - builds and tests analytic platforms that improve how risk models are developed and deployed across the Group. This role provides high-quality programming capability across prototyping teams, alternating between rapid proof-of-concept builds and development of polished software for business use.

What you’ll do

• Build and test prototypes to assess the feasibility of strategic and tactical analytics ideas
• Develop polished software platforms for operational use by analytics teams within Global Risk Analytics
• Translate stakeholder needs from Global Risk Analytics
• Present prototype outcomes and provide a clear fact-based explanation when results are questioned
• Apply established software development methods to manage build quality and delivery outcomes
• Maintain technical documentation across prototyping and core development activities
• Collaborate with developers, data analysts and modellers across project streams to progress delivery
• Support work in an exploratory environment by responding to ambiguity and sudden changes in requirements
• Coach and mentor team members, promote knowledge sharing, and provide technical leadership to support delivery, development and continuous improvement across the team

What you need to have to succeed in this role

• Demonstrate substantial professional experience building and testing software applications
• Build applications using Python programming language
• Apply strong testing principles when designing and validating software platformsUse common software design patterns to create maintainable and scalable solutions
• Work effectively with quantitatively-trained modellers and mathematicians and engage with abstract formalisms
• Build domain knowledge in risk measurement to support platform development and prototyping choices
• Follow HSBC internal control standards and standard FIM requirements to minimise operational risk
• Demonstrate previous experience in technical leadership, including leading delivery teams, setting direction, making sound engineering decisions and supporting colleagues’ professional development

The pay range for this role is 15858 PLN - 23792 PLN (monthly, gross).
Variable pay is discretionary, but influenced by Group performance, business/function performance and individual performance.
