Job summary

Buro Happold is seeking an experienced Vertical Transportation Engineer to lead design for complex projects across Europe and beyond. Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Several years of elevator/vertical transportation consultancy experience.
• Proficiency with Elevate, AutoCAD and Lift Designer.
• Knowledge of European building codes and elevator regulations.
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally.
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management.
• Proactive, technically competent and collaborative.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver vertical transportation design across project stages per local and international standards.
• Utilise Elevate, AutoCAD and Lift Designer to develop and coordinate solutions.
• Prepare technical specifications for complex lift and vertical transportation systems.
• Contribute to design and planning of bespoke vertical transportation installations.
• Manage project communications and technical documentation in English.

About You

Are you an experienced Vertical Transportation Expert looking for an opportunity to work on complex and high-profile projects in an international environment?

Buro Happold is looking to recruit a Associate Vertical Transportation Engineer to join our team in Poland (remote/hybrid). This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in the planning and delivery of innovative vertical transportation solutions across a diverse portfolio of building projects throughout Europe and beyond.

Working as part of our global Vertical Transportation team, you will contribute your technical expertise, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and help shape sustainable, people-focused buildings and infrastructure.

Your key duties

• Lead and deliver vertical transportation design services across all project stages in accordance with relevant local and international standards (e.g. RIBA, AIA and equivalent frameworks).
• Utilise specialist design tools such as Elevate, AutoCAD and Lift Designer to develop and coordinate project solutions.
• Prepare technical specifications for complex, non-standard lift and vertical transportation systems.
• Contribute to the design and planning of bespoke and specialist vertical transportation installations.
• Manage project communication and technical documentation in English.
• Act as the technical interface with architects, developers, contractors, manufacturers and other engineering disciplines.
• Support the development and continuous improvement of internal standards, tools and design processes.
• Review and assure the quality of project deliverables produced by the wider team.
• Support project planning, resource management, fee proposals and business development activities.
• Contribute to the growth of our Vertical Transportation offering through client engagement and project acquisition opportunities.

Your Skills And Experience

As an experienced Vertical Transportation professional, it is expected that you would be able to demonstrate:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent technical qualification.
• Several years of experience within the elevator industry, vertical transportation consultancy or building services engineering.
• Strong working knowledge of Elevate, AutoCAD and Lift Designer.
• Good understanding of building design processes, elevator regulations and applicable building codes across Europe (Middle East experience would be advantageous).
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability and willingness to travel internationally when required.
• Strong client-facing, coordination and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive approach, high level of technical competence and enthusiasm for working on international projects.
