Job summary

Luxoft Poland is seeking an experienced Android Developer to join a new IVI-focused team working on Android Automotive OS.

You will implement and optimize features using Kotlin and Java, leverage Android Architecture Components, and collaborate with product and QA to deliver robust mobile software for embedded environments. Knowledge of Linux basics and CI tools is a plus.

Qualifications

• Proven Android Developer with a portfolio of shipped apps.
• Strong Kotlin and Java, deep Android SDK knowledge.
• Solid understanding of Architecture Components and design patterns (MVVM, MVI, Clean).
• Experience with Android Framework, permissions, lifecycle, and security.
• Familiarity with Linux basics and embedded systems concepts.
• Experience with AAOS/Android Automotive or Car APIs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work in an end-to-end team delivering features for Android Automotive-based stacks.
• Implement, test, and refine new features; diagnose bugs and performance issues.
• Collaborate with product managers and UI/UX designers to translate requirements.
• Maintain code health via refactoring and optimization.
• Review logs, use profilers, and work with debugging tools.

Luxoft is building up a new special purpose organisation (SW House) targeted at developing In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) systems for the age of autonomously driving vehicles. How do people in cars spend their time? How do they interact with information and how do they best utilize the cars infrastructure in a future 2026? How to surpass all the benchmarks in automotive SW development. We believe that Software is the driving force to enable and differentiate in future environments. Combining latest technologies, agile way of working and the continuous striving for the best solution, we will define what IVI looks like in the future together with our OEM partner.

Responsibilities:

• Work as part of an end‑to‑end (E2E) team, collaborating closely with system engineers, product owners, designers, backend teams, and QA.
• Implement, test, and refine new features for our existing Android Automotive-based application stack.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and UI/UX designers to translate requirements into technical solutions that integrate seamlessly with the current architecture.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects, bugs, and performance bottlenecks in a timely manner.
• Maintain and improve the health of the codebase through regular refactoring and optimization.

Mandatory Skills Description:

• Proven experience as an Android Developer with a strong portfolio of shipped applications.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java, deep knowledge of the Android SDK.
• Solid understanding of Android Architecture Components (Lifecycle, ViewModel, etc.) and common design patterns (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, SOLID).
• Experience working with the Android Framework and deep understanding of the system, including:
• ContentProviders
• Permissions model (runtime permissions, privileged permissions)
• Android process lifecycle, memory management, OOM behavior, and ActivityManagerService fundamentals.
• Fundamentals of app sandboxing and security
• Ability to analyze logs (logcat), use profilers, and work with debugging tools.
• Hands‑on experience with Android Studio, Gradle, and version control systems (Git).
• Understanding of the internal structure of Linux, including basic tooling, shell usage, SELinux policy, and system‑level concepts relevant to embedded devices.
• Experience with Android Automotive OS, AAOS application models, HMI constraints, or Car APIs.

Nice-to-Have Skills Description:

• Experience with OTA‑related workflows.
