Job summary

Luxoft is building a new IVI-focused team and seeks an experienced Android Developer to contribute to an Android Automotive based stack. You will work closely with system engineers, product owners, designers, backend teams, and QA to deliver feature-rich, high‑quality software.

The role requires strong Kotlin/Java skills, deep Android knowledge, and hands-on experience with Android Studio, Gradle, and Git. You will tackle performance, security, and lifecycle challenges in a modern automotive

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Android Developer with a strong portfolio of shipped applications.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java, deep knowledge of the Android SDK.
• Solid understanding of Android Architecture Components (Lifecycle, ViewModel, etc.) and common design patterns (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, SOLID).
• Experience with Android Framework and system concepts including ContentProviders, permissions, memory management, and security.
• Hands-on experience with Android Studio, Gradle, and Git; Linux basics and embedded device concepts.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of an end‑to‑end team, collaborating with engineers, product owners, designers, and QA.
• Implement, test, and refine features for Android Automotive‑based application stack.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and UI/UX designers to translate requirements into solutions.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve defects and performance bottlenecks promptly.
• Maintain code health via refactoring and optimization.

Luxoft is building up a new special purpose organisation (SW House) targeted at developing In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) systems for the age of autonomously driving vehicles. How do people in cars spend their time? How do they interact with information and how do they best utilize the cars infrastructure in a future 2026? How to surpass all the benchmarks in automotive SW development. We believe that Software is the driving force to enable and differentiate in future environments. Responsibilities:

• Work as part of an end‑to‑end (E2E) team, collaborating closely with system engineers, product owners, designers, backend teams, and QA.
• Implement, test, and refine new features for our existing Android Automotive-based application stack.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and UI/UX designers to translate requirements into technical solutions that integrate seamlessly with the current architecture.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects, bugs, and performance bottlenecks in a timely manner.
• Maintain and improve the health of the codebase through regular refactoring and optimization.

Mandatory Skills Description:

• Proven experience as an Android Developer with a strong portfolio of shipped applications.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java, deep knowledge of the Android SDK.
• Solid understanding of Android Architecture Components (Lifecycle, ViewModel, etc.) and common design patterns (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture, SOLID).
• Experience working with the Android Framework and deep understanding of the system, including:
  • ContentProviders
  • Permissions model (runtime permissions, privileged permissions)
  • Android process lifecycle, memory management, OOM behavior, and ActivityManagerService fundamentals.
  • Fundamentals of app sandboxing and security
  • Ability to analyze logs (logcat), use profilers, and work with debugging tools.
  • Hands‑on experience with Android Studio, Gradle, and version control systems (Git).
  • Understanding of the internal structure of Linux, including basic tooling, shell usage, SELinux policy, and system‑level concepts relevant to embedded devices.
  • Experience with Android Automotive OS, AAOS application models, HMI constraints, or Car APIs

Nice-to-Have Skills Description:

• Experience with OTA‑related workflows.
