The role blends coding with team leadership, requiring architectural decisions, collaboration with design and product, and ensuring automated verification. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of software engineering experience, deep Kotlin expertise, and a track record of delivering

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on.
• Proficiency in Kotlin with Coroutines, Flow, and modern Android architecture patterns.
• Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work.
• Strong emphasis on tests, test strategy, and maintainable code.
• Proven track record of delivering features used by others, not just fast to-code.

Responsibilities

• Own major features end to end, from design to release.
• Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features.
• Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback.
• Unblock the team and ensure the right version is used across the team.
• Lead planning and coordinate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
• Ensure nightly builds and automated checks are in place.
