Job summary

payabl. is seeking an Analytics Engineer to bridge data engineering and analytics, ensuring data quality and turning raw data into reliable datasets for analysis. You will work on dbt models, validation, and semantic layer governance while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role focuses on building robust data pipelines, implementing quality checks, and delivering trusted data to analysts and business stakeholders for decision making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a tech field.
• Strong SQL skills and hands-on data transformation experience (dbt preferred).
• Proficiency in Python, including pandas for data analysis and validation.
• Experience with ELT/ETL design, orchestration tools (Airflow).
• Familiarity with data lakehouse and warehouse tech (Iceberg, Trino, Druid, Snowflake, Redshift).
• Experience with data quality and testing frameworks (dbt tests, Great Expectations, Soda).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data models and transformations (dbt) turning raw lakehouse data into clean datasets.
• Develop and maintain automated data quality checks and tests across pipelines.
• Collaborate with data engineers, domain leads, and analysts to translate requirements into data models and metrics.
• Perform sanity and reconciliation checks to identify data inconsistencies and missing values.
• Contribute to the semantic layer with well-documented metrics and dimensions.
• Document data models, quality issues, root causes, and resolutions for governance and discoverability.
• Support analysts by providing reliable, prepared datasets.
• Contribute to data workflows, orchestration, and automation around data quality and transformations.
