Job summary

METRO Global Solution Center is seeking an Accountant to manage journal entries, close cycles, and IFRS16-related accounting in Szczecin. You will handle general ledger activities, intercompany reconciliations, and reporting while supporting process improvements.

Requirements include accounting experience, English B1/B2, strong Excel skills, and a relevant economics or accounting degree. Relocation and career growth opportunities are offered.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries in the general ledger and ensure accurate transaction recording.
• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities with reconciliations.
• Account for stocks, fixed assets, IFRS16, taxes, and cost provisions.
• Calculate accrued income/expenses and write-downs; assist tax returns.
• Support intercompany reconciliations and group reporting.
• Monitor GL accounts, explain discrepancies, and implement process changes.

Job Description

Your mission:

• Preparing and posting journal entries in the general ledger and ensuring accurate transaction recording
• Performing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
• Accounting for transactions related to stocks, fixed assets, IFRS16, taxes, and cost provisions
• Calculating and accounting for accrued income, expenses, and write-downs
• Assisting in the preparation of tax returns and statutory reports
• Supporting intercompany reconciliations
• Monitoring and analysing general ledger accounts, identifying and explaining discrepancies
• Reporting actual and forecasted financial statements in the group reporting system
• Analysis and implementation of changes in processes, in accordance with IFRS requirements

Additionally:

• Participating in projects aimed at improving accounting processes
• Working closely with clients to provide top-quality services (including in other languages, if applicable)
• Keeping process documentation up to date
• Participating in knowledge transfers
• Working daily and improving your skills in accounting processes as well as SAP and Excel

Qualifications

• Experience in accounting
• Good command of English (B1/B2)
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage own work

• Relevant educational background in economics or accounting (nice to have)
• Experience with month-end and year-end closing processes (nice to have)
