Value Chain Manager, Pakistan Citizens Only
I-LED seeks a Value Chain Manager for the USAID funded three-year Improving Livelihoods and Enterprise Development (I-LED) program in Pakistan. I-LED is headquartered in Islamabad and works alongside the Government of Pakistan to assist residents of the Siran and Kaghan Valleys, North West Frontier Province (NWFP), and Bagh District, in Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK), rebuild their livelihoods and linking them to markets with economic growth potential.
Job Specification
- 10 years experience successfully implementing agricultural development programs, of which at least 5 years have been in a supervisory position, possibly including managing large development programs.
- 5 years experience successfully promoting increased production, trade, value adding of agricultural, horticultural (vegetables, fruit, nuts) and livestock products. Strong familiarity with backward linkages to research and forward linkages to export marketing will be highly regarded.
- 5 years experience improving competitiveness and strengthening value / supply chains related to agricultural, horticultural and livestock products. Other activities may include agro tourism and the gem industry.
- Five years of private-sector experience, including small, medium and large enterprises working in supply chains. This may include working with the banking sector.
- Experience and a positive track record with public, private, NGO sectors and rural associations and communities working in supply chains will be highly regarded.
- A proven ability to achieve concrete results under time limits.
- Success in developing products in ecologically delicate mountain or isolated environments is desirable.
- Minimum of a masters degree in agribusiness, agricultural economics, business administration or commerce with experience in the agriculture / natural resources / industrial sector.
- Undergraduate technical qualifications with positive implementation and management track record in a fully integrated agribusiness situation (e.g. life sciences) will be highly regarded.
- Fully computer literate and demonstrated high standard of written and financial reporting (includes preparation of pre- and feasibility studies; business plans).
- Able to travel to rural field sites for work purposes.
- Pakistan Citizen; native of Kashmir or NWFP preferred.
- Urdu mandatory, Hindko speaking ability highly desirable.
