Job summary

Dinar Wakala Llc is seeking a native Urdu-speaking voice artist to record Urdu scripts with a clear, warm voice. You may record at home or in a studio, depending on quality needs, and you will learn a web-based tool for transcription and quality tagging.

Responsibilities include listening to recordings, marking boundaries, producing verbatim and normalized Nastaliq transcripts, and noting issues such as background noise or code-switches. Flexible hours align with weekly targets.

Qualifications

• Must be native Urdu with a clear, warm reading voice.
• Fluent in reading Urdu scripts and pronouncing Arabic/Persian loanwords clearly.
• Ability to type in Nastaliq (Phonetic or InPage layout).

A technology startup is building an Urdu voice AI. We're hiring a voice artist to join us for recording and annotation.

What you'll do

Primary

• Read Urdu scripts we provide into a microphone in a clear, sustained, consistent voice.
• Recording sessions happen at home, or studio, depending on voice quality needs.

Secondary

After each recording session, listen back to your own recordings in a web tool (we train you on it) and transcribe them:

• Mark utterance boundaries on the waveform.
• Write a verbatim transcript (word-for-word, including English words that appear code-switched into the Urdu).
• Write a normalized transcript—the same text in clean Nastaliq, numbers spelled out.
• Tag quality flags (background noise, misreads, code-switches).

Because you're transcribing your own voice, this is faster than transcribing a stranger—but it needs the same discipline.

Job Specification

• Native Urdu with a clear, warm reading voice.
• Standard Urdu register, or a well-articulated Karachi / Lahore / Peshawar accent.
• Fluent reading of long Nastaliq passages, including Arabic and Persian loanwords without stumbling.
• Working English—our training materials, the labeling tool, and some scripts are English, and the recordings themselves will contain code-switched English words.
• Ability to type in Nastaliq (Phonetic or InPage layout).
• Prior voiceover, radio, news reading, naat recitation, or audiobook narration experience.
• Theatre or acting background optional but very useful.
• Urdu literature coursework at university level (optional but useful).
• Experience with recording sessions and taking direction.
