Job summary

Liaquat National Hospital in Karachi seeks an Echocardiography Technologist to support examinations, prepare equipment and patients, and help generate final reports under Consultant supervision.

Ideal candidates will be familiar with ultrasound equipment, data entry, and quality management practices, with emphasis on patient safety and artifact recognition.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. in Medical Technology or equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge of ultrasound equipment and basic troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with computers and related software.
• Ability to compile information, maintain records, and prepare reports.
• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for examinations by checking equipment, reviewing physician orders for specific examinations, setting up recording equipment, and entering patient information into the system.
• Prepare patients by positioning them appropriately, applying gel, attaching electrodes to the chest and equipment, adjusting equipment controls, and verifying wave signals.
• Obtain quality images by positioning and repositioning the transducer, monitoring the display screen, identifying artifacts that may mimic abnormalities, and recording images.
• Record examination information by printing relevant graphics and data.
• Assist in interpreting examination results and obtain final reports signed by the Consultant.
• Maintain equipment and follow established protocols to ensure safety and quality.
• Perform shift duties related to the extended services of Echocardiography as assigned.
