Job summary

Pakistan Refinery Limited is seeking a Supervisor Operations to manage and monitor refinery process units in Karachi. The role emphasizes safe operation of Crude, Isomerization, Platforming, Hydrotreating, Utilities and Offsites, with data logging and coordination with the Technical Department.

The incumbent will participate in test runs, support turnarounds, and ensure safe start-up and shutdown procedures within PTW guidelines. A D.A.E. (Chemical) and extensive refinery experience are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in a Refinery, Petrochemical, or Fertilizer Plant, preferably with strong DCS operation experience.
• D.A.E. (Chemical) education required; strong safety and shift discipline.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and computer literacy (MS Office).

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor refinery process units to ensure safe, efficient performance.
• Log operating data accurately to support stable plant operation.
• Support turnaround activities, catalyst regeneration, and planned events.
• Coordinate with Maintenance for timely, safe job execution under PTW system.
• Assist in start-up/shutdown procedures and emergency handling.

Job description

Position: Supervisor Operations
Reporting To: Shift Manager Plant Operations
Location: Karachi, Pakistan

Job Responsibilities:

This shift-duty operations role ensures safe and efficient operation of refinery process units, including Crude, Isomerization, Platforming, Hydrotreating, Utilities, and Offsites. The incumbent monitors process equipment and instruments and ensures accurate logging of operating data to support stable plant performance. The Supervisor participates in test runs with the Technical Department and supports turnaround activities, catalyst regeneration, and planned operational events. Key responsibilities include monitoring process equipment, conducting routine field checks, maintaining operating parameters, and reporting operational variances to the Shift Engineer / Manager. The Supervisor supports safe start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures, optimizes chemical consumption, monitors inventories, and minimizes own-use fuel. The role coordinates with Maintenance to ensure timely job execution and safe work practices through the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system.

Education: D.A.E (Chemical)

Experience: Minimum 10 years’ experience in a Refinery, Petrochemical, or Fertilizer Plant, preferably with strong DCS operation experience

Technical Competencies: Emergency handling, monitoring process parameters, DCS operation and control, start-up/shutdown procedures, PTW system knowledge, and basic troubleshooting of process equipment

Non-Technical Competencies: Computer literacy (MS Office), teamwork, effective communication, and adherence to safety and shift discipline
