Job summary

Texas State University Libraries in San Marcos seeks a Stacks Assistant to support the Archives and Research Center (ARC), an off-site, climate-controlled storage facility. The role involves retrieving, shelving, transporting, and distributing materials to ensure timely access for patrons and staff.

You will help maintain organization, security, and preservation of library and special collections, while delivering responsive service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate university vehicles.
• Ability to communicate clearly and follow procedures.
• Ability to use computers and learn job-related software applications.
• Ability to maintain accurate records with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve, shelve, re-file, and prepare materials in a high-density, climate-controlled storage environment.
• Transport collections between ARC, library locations, and designated facilities.
• Provide courteous service to patrons, researchers, faculty, staff, and visitors.
• Maintain inventory, location, and circulation records using collection management systems.
• Support circulation, interlibrary loan, reading room, and research access requests.
