Job summary

Actemium Avanceon is seeking an Automation Engineer in Karachi with 4–5 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation. You will design, develop, and commission automation systems, working with PLCs, DCS, and instrumentation across diverse plants.

You will create detailed specifications, configure PLC/DCS platforms, and develop HMI/SCADA dashboards. Ideal candidates communicate clearly in English and collaborate with customers and partners.

Qualifications

• BSc Engineering – Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics.
• 4–5 years in industrial automation.

Responsibilities

• Develop automation architectures, I/O lists, and control philosophies.
• Prepare and review FDS, cause & effect diagrams, and control narratives.
• Configure and program PLCs and DCS platforms.
• Develop HMI/SCADA graphics and dashboards.
• Participate in FAT/SAT and on-site commissioning.
• Troubleshoot and optimize control systems to meet KPIs.
• Generate as-built documentation, user manuals, and training materials.
• Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and clients.
• Provide technical support and training to operators and maintenance personnel.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer with 4-5 years of hands‑on experience in industrial automation, specializing in the design, development, and commissioning of automation systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in PLCs, DCS, and associated instrumentation, and will be responsible for delivering end‑to‑end automation solutions across diverse industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Development:

• Develop detailed automation system architectures, I/O lists, and control philosophies.
• Prepare and review functional design specifications (FDS), cause & effect diagrams, and control narratives.
• Configure and program PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider, etc.) and DCS platforms (Honeywell, Emerson, Yokogawa, etc.).
• Develop HMI/SCADA graphics and dashboards.

Project Execution:

• Participate in FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing).
• Lead or support on‑site commissioning, loop checking, and start‑up activities.
• Troubleshoot and optimize control systems to ensure smooth operation and achieve process KPIs.

Documentation & Standards:

• Generate as‑built documentation, user manuals, and training materials.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (IEC, ISA, local codes).
• Maintain clear project records and technical documentation.

Team & Customer Interaction:

• Coordinate with internal engineering teams, vendors, and clients.
• Provide technical support and training to operators and maintenance personnel.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for design and execution practices.

What We’re Looking For:

Education: BSc Engineering – Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics from a recognized institute.

Experience: At least 4-5 years of practical experience within the industrial automation industry.

Project Phase Expertise: Knowledge of process manufacturing, field instrumentation, control system installation, and implementation expertise in the following project phases:

• Requirement’s Documentation
• Detailed Design Generation
• Implementation
• System Integration
• Testing
• Onsite Startup

Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communication abilities in English.

Relationship Building: Proven ability to cultivate strong and lasting relationships with both customers and partners.
