Job summary

Perseus Payments Inc. is expanding its PerseusPay team in a live payments environment. You will own features from incomplete briefs through production, shaping design, building backend APIs and UI, and handling processor rules behind feature flags.

Role requires 5+ years in software development, strong C#/.NET, React, Azure DevOps experience, and the ability to work across time zones with minimal guidance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development with strong C#/ .NET and ASP.NET Core REST API experience.
• Strong SQL Server skills including schema design, query tuning and transactions.
• Hands-on Azure experience with App Services, Functions, Service Bus, and Application Insights.
• React/JavaScript knowledge to ship UI features independently.
• Proven record delivering features with changing requirements.
• Ability to work independently across time zones and make decisions with recommendations.
• Excellent written English and collaboration in Azure DevOps, PRs and Teams.
• Solid engineering habits: unit tests, code reviews, Git branching, CI/CD.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and Azure DevOps.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Take a feature from PRD or user story to production: scope, design, build, test, and release behind a feature flag.
• Build and maintain REST APIs, background processing and database changes in C# / .NET.
• Build and maintain React UI for dealer portal, embedded payment page and checkout plugin.
• Integrate with payment processor APIs and webhooks; read docs for edge cases.
• Spot gaps and edge cases in requirements; propose options to Product Owner and Director of R&D.
• Re-plan when scope changes and communicate impact on delivery date.
• Write unit and integration tests; participate in code reviews; meet SonarQube and secure coding standards.
• Maintain structured logging, error handling, idempotency, retries and concurrency safety on money flows.
• Support QA with test data and fixes; assist release validation.
• Keep technical notes and Azure DevOps items current for traceability.
• Work with AI-assisted development tools and maintain security rules.

About Perseus Payments Inc.

Perseus Payments Inc., part of Constellation Software, builds PerseusPay. PerseusPay is a cloud-native payments platform for marine, outdoor power equipment and RV dealers in the US and Canada. The platform is PCI DSS compliant, and the team is building toward an AI-native way of developing software.

Why This Role

This is a chance to build features on a live payments platform used by hundreds of dealer locations. You will own work from an incomplete brief through to production, across backend, UI and payment processor integrations. The platform is secure, PCI-compliant and built to scale.

Role Overview

We are hiring a software developer for the team that builds new PerseusPay features, as distinct from our support and platform work. You will own features from an incomplete brief through to production: shaping the design, building the backend APIs and UI, working through payment-processor rules, and shipping behind feature flags.

Key Responsibilities

• Take a feature from PRD or user story to production: clarify the scope, design the solution, build, test, and release behind a feature flag.
• Build and maintain REST APIs, background processing and database changes in C# / .NET.
• Build and maintain React UI for the dealer portal, the embedded payment page and the checkout plugin.
• Integrate with payment processor APIs and webhooks, and read processor documentation to find the edge cases that matter.
• Spot gaps, contradictions and missing edge cases in requirements, and bring them to the Product Owner and Director of R&D with a recommended option.
• Re-plan quickly when scope changes, and say clearly what that does to the delivery date.
• Write unit and integration tests, take part in code reviews, and meet our SonarQube and secure coding standards.
• Keep production safe with structured logging, error handling, idempotency, retries and concurrency safety on money-moving flows.
• Support QA with test data and fixes, and support release validation.
• Keep technical notes, decision records and Azure DevOps items current so work is traceable.
• Work with the team’s AI-assisted and agentic development tools, including Claude Code, within our security rules.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of professional software development, with strong C#/ .NET and ASP.NET Core REST API experience.
• Strong SQL Server skills: schema design, query tuning, transactions, and an understanding of locking and deadlocks.
• Hands‑on Azure experience: App Services, Functions, Service Bus, Application Insights.
• React / JavaScript working knowledge, enough to ship UI features independently.
• A proven record of delivering features with incomplete or changing requirements.
• Be ready to give examples in the interview.
• Ability to work independently across time zones.
• You make sound decisions, record them, and escalat[e] with a recommendation rather than a question.
• Strong written English.
• Most of our collaboration is written, in Azure DevOps, pull requests and Teams.
• Solid engineering habits: unit tests, code reviews, Git branching, CI/CD.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and Azure DevOps.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have)

• Hands‑on experience with Claude Code or a comparable agentic coding tool, and knowledge of agentic engineering practices: spec‑driven development, context engineering, task decomposition, test‑driven feedback loops, and critical review of agent output.
• You should be able to describe a feature you shipped this way, including where the agent went wrong.
• Experience with MCP servers, custom skills or sub‑agents, multi‑agent workflows, and evals for AI‑generated code.
• Payment processor integration experience.
• Redis caching and Service Bus patterns.
• Datadog, Azure DevOps pipelines, Terraform awareness.
