Overview

Job Title: Senior Technical Writer (Remote)

As our first Technical Writer, you will own the creation and maintenance of our product documentation and knowledge base. You will work closely with Product, Support, and Implementation teams to translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly content, ensuring our documentation is always accurate, complete, and up to date. You will help define documentation standards, improve workflows, and build a knowledge base that supports both our team and our clients. This is a remote opportunity, and candidates are expected to have some overlap with North American hours.

Our Client is a leading North American transportation management software company helping K-12 school districts streamline operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Author High-Quality and Accurate Documentation
  • Write clear, concise, and user-friendly content for product manuals and knowledge base articles.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into plain language.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, consistent and error-free.
  • Manage and Evolve the Knowledge Base
  • Own the full documentation lifecycle, from planning to publishing.
  • Identify and close knowledge gaps to support product releases and users.
  • Align documentation delivery with release timelines and priorities.
  • Use feedback and metrics to improve content quality and coverage.
  • Act as a Bridge Between Experts and Users
  • Collaborate with Product, Support, and Implementation teams to gather information.
  • Advocate for customers by ensuring docs address real-world use cases.
  • Share updates and collect feedback from internal stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in software or SaaS environments.
  • Skilled in structured authoring, following Microsoft Manual of Style and Minimalism.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Self-starter comfortable working independently and managing multiple projects in parallel.

Timings

Flexible (4 - 6 hours in the morning overlap with Canadian hours). Rest of the day is flexible.
