Smart Working is seeking a Senior Symfony & PHP Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain backend systems for our products. You will work in an Agile team with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver scalable, reliable features that solve real-world problems.

This role rewards clean code, leadership in technical discussions, mentoring others, and shipping tested solutions that meet business needs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of PHP development experience.
• 3+ years hands-on Symfony framework experience.
• 2+ years writing unit tests with PHPUnit.
• Strong communication in cross-functional teams.
• Experience with MongoDB.
• Knowledge of design patterns (OOP).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend features that align with business goals and customer needs.
• Maintain and improve test coverage using PHPUnit.
• Build scalable, testable APIs and backend systems.
• Write clean, maintainable code that meets quality standards.
• Review requirements and provide technical input and feedback.
• Collaborate with product, design, and QA teams.
• Monitor systems and respond to issues on a rotating on-call schedule.
• Lead smaller projects and mentor others through implementation.
