Senior Self-Assessment Tax Specialist

Location: Lahore

Employment Type: Full-time | Permanent

Experience Level: Senior (5+ years)

Salary: PKR 250,000–350,000, based on demonstrated expertise and relevant senior-level experience.

Certification Preferred: ACCA, CA or CIMA/ Masters

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Self-Assessment Tax Specialist to lead the end-to-end management of UK personal tax returns. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong command of HMRC regulations, proven leadership capabilities, and a client-centric approach. You will oversee compliance, mentor junior staff, and serve as a strategic advisor to clients with complex tax profiles.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Review

  • Oversee accurate and timely preparation of UK Self-Assessment tax returns
  • Review submissions prepared by junior staff for HMRC compliance
  • Identify discrepancies, missing data, and tax planning opportunities
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and respond to HMRC inquiries
  • Manage the full Self-Assessment lifecycle from data collection to liability communication

Client Advisory & Relationship Management

  • Serve as primary advisor for clients with multifaceted tax situations
  • Provide tailored guidance on income, dividends, rental income, capital gains, pensions, and foreign income
  • Resolve client queries professionally and efficiently
  • Monitor deadlines and proactively engage clients for timely submissions

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of tax assistants and junior staff
  • Allocate workloads and ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Deliver training to enhance technical knowledge and software proficiency
  • Foster a high-performance, client-focused culture

Process Optimization & Reporting

  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline tax workflows
  • Maintain internal dashboards to monitor submission status and team KPIs
  • Stay updated on UK tax legislation and ensure team-wide compliance

Qualifications & Skills

Certification: ACCA,CA,CIMA or equivalent (preferred)

Experience: Minimum 5 years in UK Self-Assessment tax; 2+ years in a supervisory role

Technical Skills: Proficiency in tax software and HMRC systems

Communication: Excellent interpersonal and client-handling skills

Leadership: Proven ability to manage and develop high-performing teams

Compliance Knowledge: In-depth understanding of UK personal tax regulation

Available to start within a month's notice.

We strictly follow UK base timings which will be from 9am to 5:30pm BST.
