Job summary

Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan, seeks a Lead Technician for the Operating Room. The role focuses on organizing the OR schedule, preparing patients for surgery, and supporting physicians during procedures to ensure patient safety and smooth workflow.

You will uphold infection control standards, supervise equipment use, and mentor junior staff while rotating shifts and covering multiple locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Diploma in OR Technician is required.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not mandatory.
• Minimum five years of OR experience in reputable settings.
• Solid knowledge of scrub techniques, OR instruments and sepsis control.

Responsibilities

• Check operating room schedule for surgeries and coordinate accordingly.
• Receive and identify patients correctly for surgery or procedures.
• Assist in preoperative patient preparation and documentation.
• Assist physicians in complex surgeries (e.g., hysterectomy, laparotomy, C-section).
• Ensure time-out process and safe transport of patients within the unit.
• Comply with OR and infection control policies and standards.
• Maintain OR area cleanliness and unit inventory; support maintenance.
• Operate equipment per manufacturer’s recommendations and report issues.
• Mentor and train new team members in safe patient care.
