Job summary

The Aga Khan University Hospital is recruiting a Technician - Operating Room in Hyderabad, Pakistan. The role supports surgical teams by preparing patients, handling instruments, and ensuring safety and accuracy in perioperative processes.

Ideal candidates will have Matriculation with pre-med background, an OT Technician diploma, and 1 year of experience. Willingness to work shifts, strong communication, and adherence to sterilization standards are essential at AKUH.

Qualifications

• Matriculation with pre-med background and Intermediate in any discipline.
• Diploma in OT Technician from a reputable institution.
• Preferably one year of relevant experience.
• Good understanding of basic anatomy / physiology and OR terminologies, and ability to identify surgical instruments.
• Good understanding of sterilization and disinfection procedures.
• Good communication skills and ability to handle work pressure.
• Willingness to work in shift duties and at different locations.

Responsibilities

• receive and correctly identify for surgical procedures
• check patients scheduled for surgery in the Operating Room and ensure proper take over of patients' files
• complete all per-operative documentation pertaining to patient's surgery
• ensure that all specimens are removed during surgery, correctly labeled and dispatched for necessary investigation as advised by the surgeon
• scrub for designated cases while displaying competence for different areas as per the scope of services of the hospital
• assists in the safe transportation of patients before and after surgery
• timely report of any problem with equipment to the concerned for rectification
• assist in preoperative patient preparation and coordinate with the scheduler in the smooth running of the OR list.
