Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Job Brief

VentureDive is looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our fast-paced team. In this position, you will have the opportunity to be part of a sales enablement AI platform for our customers in the insurance and sales enablement industries. You will work closely with your colleagues to build and deploy advanced machine-learning models for sales teams of all sizes, from independent insurance agencies to multinational insurance entities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong computer science background and have demonstrated experience building and refining machine learning models in past roles. You should understand different model types, ideal use cases, and limitations, and have the ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges, with the skill set to serve as a subject-matter expert (SME) within the product team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine machine learning models and integrate LLM-based solutions to enhance our platform's capabilities.
• Design and optimize GenAI-powered workflows for applications such as personalized email communication and insight generation.
• Support the full ML lifecycle, including ML Ops, using open source tools.
• Build scalable data pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading data from diverse sources using tools such as Airflow and dbt.
• Collaborate closely with the product and business development teams to align machine learning strategies with customer needs.
• Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for ML and LLM/GenAI technologies.
• Stay updated on advancements in ML/AI, LLMs, and related technologies to bring the latest innovations to our platform.
• Implement robust CI/CD pipelines for ML model deployment and maintain scalability in production.
• Document architectural decisions and provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 8+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer.
• Proven experience working with LLMs and Generative AI, including fine-tuning and deploying models such as GPT, BERT, Llama, or similar.
• 8+ years of experience transforming data in various formats (JSON, XML, CSV, etc.) and building data pipelines.
• Strong understanding of traditional ML concepts such as GMMs, SVMs, trees, and boosting alongside deep learning fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Python with experience in scientific libraries like NumPy, SciPy, and Pandas.
• Experience deploying models on AWS infrastructure and optimizing ML workflows for production.
• Advanced SQL knowledge, including query optimization and database structure understanding.
• Knowledge of data modeling principles and designing schemas for complex, multi-source data.
• Experience in feature engineering and maximizing model performance.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, data structures, and algorithms.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience integrating LLM-powered tools into enterprise systems or web applications.
• Familiarity with frameworks like LangChain, Next.js, and NestJS.
• Experience designing flexible data ingestion and enrichment pipelines to accommodate diverse data sources.
• Exposure to software configuration tools like Git/GitHub, Notion, Clickup, and GitHub Actions.
• Demonstrated experience presenting technical research or findings at industry conferences.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to mentor junior engineers.
• Located in Mexico, Canada, or Europe with availability for East Coast time zone overlap (7pm-12am PKT).

Education:

• Possess a BS or MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
