Job summary

Brilliant Systems in Lahore is looking for a front-end engineer who thrives under constraints like slow networks and aging devices, delivering fast, accessible interfaces.

You will build interfaces under a real performance budget, own accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA, and work directly with users when access is possible.

Deep TypeScript and CSS skills, plus the ability to explain measurable performance gains and to work without a designer, are highly valued.

• Accessibility experience, including a screen reader you have used.
• Comfort working without a designer, and with one when present.

Job description

Interfaces for people who are busy, on bad networks, using the oldest device in the building.

Good front-end work usually comes with a hard constraint: an old laptop on shared wifi, a clinician who will abandon anything that adds thirty seconds, someone on site in gloves in bright sunlight. Performance and accessibility are part of the specification, not polish at the end. If you find that more interesting than the framework debate, we will get on.

What you will do

• Own accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA, tested rather than asserted.
• Work directly with the client’s users when we can get access to them.
• Decide when a framework earns its weight and when it does not.

What we need from you

• Deep TypeScript and CSS. Real CSS, not only a utility framework.
• You have made something measurably faster and can describe how you measured it.
• Accessibility experience, including a screen reader you have actually used.
• Comfort working without a designer, and with one when there is one.

Useful but not required

• A design background, or a strong eye for layout and type.
• Experience with offline-tolerant or intermittently connected applications.
