Job summary

Systems Limited is seeking a senior database engineering expert to design, build, and maintain enterprise databases across Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL and MS SQL Server. You will drive standardization and automation in on-premises and cloud environments.

You will implement HA architectures, optimize performance, and develop monitoring with SIEM integration, using Python, Bash, and PowerShell to streamline BAU operations.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience with enterprise database technologies.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Strong scripting/automation skills using Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, standardize, and maintain enterprise database platforms across Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, and MS SQL Server.
• Develop automated database builds and reusable database/server/container configurations.
• Create and maintain standardized database and container images for on-premises and cloud environments.
• Work with OpenShift, VMware, Kubernetes, and Oracle Exadata for hosting and containerized environments.
• Define database standards, security, configuration, and hardening practices.
• Design and support highly available database environments and architectures.
• Drive database performance tuning and optimization across CPU, memory, storage/IO, networking, indexing, and partitioning.
• Develop monitoring/observability and integrate with SIEM and logging platforms.
• Develop automation using Python, Bash, and PowerShell to improve BAU operations.
• Leverage AI/automation to innovate database engineering solutions.
• Define roadmaps, standards, and future-state capabilities.
• Collaborate with DBA, Infrastructure, DevOps, EA, InfoSec, and App teams to deliver solutions.
• Act as Level 3 escalation for critical database incidents and root-cause analysis.
• Troubleshoot complex performance and infrastructure issues across system layers.

Job description

Ideal candidate for this role shall be having strong hands-on expertise in enterprise database technologies and database platform engineering. The candidate should have experience designing, standardizing, automating, and optimizing large-scale database environments across Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, and MS SQL Server, with exposure to Oracle RAC/Exadata, OpenShift, VMware, Kubernetes, DevOps, and CI/CD.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, standardize, and maintain enterprise-wide database platforms across Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, and MS SQL Server.
• Develop automated database builds and reusable database/server/container configurations.
• Create and maintain standardized database and container images for on-premises and cloud environments.
• Work with Red Hat OpenShift, VMware, Kubernetes, and Oracle Exadata for database hosting and containerized environments.
• Define and implement enterprise database standards, security frameworks, configuration standards, and hardening practices.
• Design and support highly available database environments and architectures.
• Drive database performance tuning and optimization, covering CPU, memory, storage/IO, networking, indexing, and database partitioning.
• Develop database monitoring and observability capabilities and integrate them with enterprise monitoring, logging, and SIEM platforms.
• Develop automation solutions using Python, Bash, and PowerShell to improve database engineering and BAU operations.
• Leverage AI and automation to develop innovative solutions for database engineering and operational teams.
• Define database technology roadmaps, standards, and future-state capabilities.
• Partner with Database Administration, Infrastructure, DevOps, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, and Application teams to deliver enterprise database solutions.
• Act as a Level 3 escalation point for critical database incidents and support root-cause analysis and resolution.
• Troubleshoot complex database performance and infrastructure issues across CPU, memory, IO, networking, and operating-system/kernel layers.
• Drive automation and standardization across the database ecosystem.

Requirements:

• 12+ years of experience working with enterprise database technologies.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong database performance tuning and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience designing and implementing High Availability database environments.
• Experience creating standardized database/server/container images across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Strong scripting/automation skills using Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell.
• Experience integrating databases with enterprise monitoring, logging, and SIEM solutions.
• Strong understanding of database interaction with operating systems, Active Directory, backup technologies, and external integrations.
• Strong understanding of database security, hardening, standards, and controls.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly for complex enterprise database environments.
• Experience working in large-scale, highly regulated, or mission-critical environments is preferred.
