Job summary

S&P Global in Islamabad, Pakistan, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead enterprise-scale ELT/ETL and data governance initiatives. You will architect robust data systems, mentor engineers, and collaborate across business and technical teams to deliver scalable data solutions using Informatica Cloud and Snowflake.

The role emphasizes data security, RBAC/ABAC controls, encryption, and performance tuning, with opportunities to work on AI-enabled data projects and modern visualization tools

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of progressive experience in data engineering or related fields.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Informatica Cloud (IICS) ELT/ETL.
  • 5 years of experience working with Snowflake in a data engineering capacity, including Streams, Tasks, stored procedures, UDFs.
  • Expert-level SQL proficiency with advanced window functions, CTEs, recursive queries and Snowflake optimisations.
  • Experience implementing data governance policies and security compliance using Collibra, Alation, or native Snowflake features.
  • Deep understanding of data security principles, encryption standards (AES-256), key management (AWS KMS, Azure Key Vault).
  • Strong Python skills for data transformation, automation, and API integration.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing enterprise system integrations.
  • Proficiency in data lakehouse architecture and data product development.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architectural design of enterprise-scale data systems for robust, scalable data architecture.
  • Lead ELT/ETL pipelines using Informatica Cloud (IICS) to integrate data into Snowflake with quality and transformation standards.
  • Architect and enforce data governance frameworks, including data lineage, metadata management, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2).
  • Design, implement RBAC and ABAC security models within Snowflake to maintain secure data environments.
  • Establish and maintain advanced data security protocols, including dynamic data masking, row-level security, and encryption at rest/in transit.
  • Perform advanced SQL query optimisation and Snowflake performance tuning (Streams, Tasks, materialised views, clustering keys, query profiling).
  • Mentor junior and mid-level data engineers on Snowflake optimization, Informatica development, and secure data handling.
  • Leverage cloud technologies to optimize data operations and performance.
  • Collaborate across business and technical teams to ensure effective communication and successful project delivery.
  • Manage large-scale data projects from inception to completion.

  • Lead the design and deployment of ELT/ETL pipelines using Informatica Cloud (IICS) to integrate data from multiple sources into Snowflake, ensuring data quality and transformation standards.
  • Architect and enforce data governance frameworks, including data lineage, metadata management, and compliance with regulatory requirements (GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2).
  • Design, implement, and audit comprehensive RBAC and ABAC (Attribute-Based Access Control) security models within Snowflake to maintain secure data environments.
  • Establish and maintain advanced data security protocols, including dynamic data masking, row-level security, and encryption at rest/in transit within Snowflake.
  • Perform advanced SQL query optimisation and performance tuning in Snowflake, leveraging features like Streams, Tasks, materialised views, clustering keys, and query profiling.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level data engineers, providing technical guidance on best practices for Snowflake optimisation, Informatica development, and secure data handling.
  • Leverage cloud technologies to optimise data operations and enhance performance.
  • Collaborate across business and technical teams to ensure effective communication and successful project delivery.

Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of progressive experience in data engineering or related fields.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience designing and deploying production ELT/ETL solutions using Informatica Cloud (IICS), including Mapping Designer, Data Integration, and API management.
  • 5 years of experience working with Snowflake in a data engineering capacity, including advanced features like Streams, Tasks, stored procedures, UDFs, and external functions.
  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL, including complex window functions, CTEs, recursive queries, and Snowflake-specific optimisations (zero-copy cloning, time travel, result caching).
  • Proven experience implementing data governance policies and security compliance frameworks, using tools like Collibra, Alation, or native Snowflake features.
  • Deep understanding of data security principles, including encryption standards (AES-256), key management (AWS KMS, Azure Key Vault), and secure data sharing protocols.
  • Strong Python skills for data transformation, automation, and API integration.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing enterprise system integrations for seamless data interoperability.
  • Proficiency in data lakehouse architecture and data product development.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across diverse teams.
Preferred Qualities
  • Snowflake SnowPro Core or Advanced certification (Data Engineer, Architect, or Security Specialist).
  • Experience with data quality frameworks (Informatica Data Quality) and DataOps/CI/CD practices.
  • Familiarity with AWS data services (S3, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions) for cloud-native data architectures.
  • Experience with Snowflake Cortex AI and ML functions for embedding AI capabilities into data workflows.
  • Knowledge of operationalising ML models within data pipelines, including feature engineering and model monitoring.
  • Experience developing Streamlit applications and familiarity with data visualisation tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced, team-oriented environments.
