Job description

We are a UK based accounting firm with our back office located in Islamabad and we are currently looking to add an experienced bookkeeper/accountant to our team.

This role requires a strong understanding of tax principles, proficiency in bookkeeping, and expertise in UK VAT regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Requesting required paperwork/records from clients.
  • Bookkeeping for a variety of clients using accounting software (VT, Sage, QB etc.)
  • Preparation of VAT returns for Ltd companies/Sole traders.
  • Reconciling various control accounts, such as bank accounts, sales ledgers, purchase ledgers, etc.
  • Addressing any queries with a client that arise during the bookkeeping.
  • Organising workload to ensure strict deadlines are met.
  • Communicating with HMRC VAT office when required.
  • Assisting senior accountants

Requirements:

  • Minimum of one years experience working with a UK based accounting firm
  • Must have UK tax and accounts knowledge and individuals with relevant experience ONLY are eligible to apply
  • Must have knowledge of all UK VAT schemes
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products including One Drive
  • Proficiency in using accounting software especially VT
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.

We will only be providing basic training for this role so you are expected to have the experience/knowledge and make this role your own.

Professional Qualifications:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified or equivalent.(MBA,BBA,B.COM)
  • Extensive experience in UK accountancy, including managerial experience.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team within a UK accountancy firm.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex accounting issues.
  • Experience in strategic planning and operational management.
Job Specification

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and regulations.
  • Practical knowledge and understanding of VAT schemes and Corporation tax.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, QB, Capium, HubDocs etc) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to analyse financial data and produce accurate reports.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organised with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
