Job summary

Fusemachines is seeking a remote OpenShift Administrator to manage RHEL/OpenShift clusters. The role requires hands-on experience with cluster operations, RBAC, storage, and network components, in a private data center context.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) in production environments.
• Solid OpenShift Container Platform administration skills (cluster operations, oc/kubectl, RBAC, networking).
• Experience with bare-metal Dell PowerEdge hardware, iDRAC, firmware and RAID management.
• Familiarity with containers and Kubernetes fundamentals; private data center/colocation exposure.
• Understanding of SAN/NAS, Ceph/ODF, or similar storage concepts in OpenShift environments.
• Comfort with Linux networking (firewalls, VLANs, DNS, load balancing).
• Strong troubleshooting, incident response, and independent work style.
• Clear written communication for documentation and vendor coordination.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain RHEL and OpenShift across cluster nodes with minimal downtime.
• Apply OS/OpenShift patches, security updates, and version upgrades.
• Manage node lifecycle (cordon/drain, reboot, replacement, scaling) in OpenShift.
• Maintain Dell PowerEdge hardware, including iDRAC, RAID, and firmware updates.
• Coordinate with colocation facility for remote hands support and access needs.
• Monitor hardware health and manage Dell/IBM vendor support and warranty claims.
• Administer OpenShift components: control plane, etcd, networking, storage, ingress.
• Manage container registries, namespaces, RBAC, and resource quotas.
• Monitor cluster health with OpenShift tools; respond to alerts promptly.
• Support Watson deployment running on OpenShift, including storage-backed services.
• Troubleshoot Watson/Fusion issues with IBM patches and license entitlements.
• Coordinate maintenance windows and upgrades with minimal service disruption.
• Manage persistent storage backends (ODF/Ceph, NFS, SAN as applicable).
• Implement backup/disaster recovery for cluster config, etcd, and data.
• Maintain network configuration, security hardening, certificates, and access controls.
• Document architecture, runbooks, and SOPs to improve internal knowledge.
