Job summary

Shopify Digital Solution is hiring an experienced AI/OCR Engineer to design and build production-grade document intelligence for a complex platform. You will process scanned and digital documents, extract structured data, validate results, and integrate services into secure web and backend workflows.

The role emphasizes hands-on implementation of OCR pipelines, layout-aware extraction, confidence scoring, and robust testing with CI/CD. Remote work is supported for Islamabad-based operations.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in Applied AI, Machine Learning, OCR, Document Intelligence, NLP, or production AI engineering.
• Strong production experience with Python.
• Experience building OCR and document-processing pipelines.
• Experience extracting structured information from semi-structured and unstructured documents.
• Experience integrating OCR, Document AI, and/or LLM services into production systems.
• Understanding of confidence scoring, validation, precision, recall, evaluation, and error analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain end-to-end document-processing pipelines.
• Implement document ingestion, preprocessing, OCR, classification, field extraction, normalization, validation, and result storage.
• Handle low-quality, rotated, blurred, handwritten, incomplete, and structurally inconsistent documents.
• Build structured data extraction from semi-structured and unstructured documents.
• Implement document classification and layout-aware extraction.
• Design confidence scoring and validation rules for extracted information.
• Build AI-assisted summarization, explanation, classification, and structured interpretation workflows.
• Reduce hallucination risk through grounded outputs, structured schemas, validation, and fallback behavior.
• Evaluate OCR, Document AI, and LLM providers and monitor accuracy, latency, failures, and cost.
• Integrate document-processing services with secure web, mobile, and backend workflows.
• Implement testing, regression evaluation, CI/CD, monitoring, and production deployment.
• Strong problem-solving, technical communication, and English communication skills.
