About the Role:
CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Regional Facilities Engineer to provide technical leadership, governance, and operational oversight for critical facilities, technology rooms, and mission-critical infrastructure across the Middle East and North Africa region.
The role serves as the primary engineering authority for the MENA portfolio, ensuring safe, compliant, and best-in-class operation of critical engineering systems while supporting client business continuity objectives.
The Regional Facilities Engineer will act as the technical interface between clients, operations teams, project teams, and service partners to drive engineering excellence, risk mitigation, operational resilience, and continuous improvement across the region.
The position will provide subject matter expertise in critical systems engineering, facility operations, maintenance strategy, incident management, change management, governance, and technical compliance.
What You’ll Do:
Regional Technical Leadership
- Provide technical oversight for mission-critical facilities and infrastructure throughout the MENA region.
- Ensure engineering operations are delivered in accordance with client standards, CBRE procedures, and industry best practices.
- Support site engineering teams with technical guidance and operational decision-making.
- Drive consistency in maintenance delivery, engineering standards, and operational excellence across all locations.
- Act as the regional escalation point for complex technical issues and critical incidents.
Critical Facilities Operations
- Oversee operational performance of critical data centres, technology rooms, command centres, and business-critical facilities.
- Conduct periodic technical reviews of facilities to ensure infrastructure reliability and resilience.
- Evaluate maintenance effectiveness and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
- Support site teams during abnormal operating conditions, system failures, and emergency response situations.
- Review critical equipment performance trends and recommend improvement strategies.
- Ensure all critical systems are maintained to meet uptime and availability targets.
Change Management & Risk Mitigation
- Govern regional change management processes for critical systems maintenance and modifications.
- Review and approve complex engineering changes that could impact business operations.
- Ensure all planned works undergo appropriate risk assessments and technical reviews.
- Act as final technical approver for high-risk changes affecting mission-critical environments.
- Drive adherence to client change control procedures and safe systems of work.
- Review maintenance schedules to minimize operational risk and avoid conflicting activities.
Incident Management & Outage Response
- Lead technical investigations for critical incidents and infrastructure outages.
- Support 24/7 escalation response for major engineering events.
- Coordinate technical communications between site teams, management, and clients during incidents.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and develop corrective action plans (CAP).
- Monitor implementation of lessons learned and preventive measures.
- Travel to sites when required to support incident investigations and business recovery activities.
Technical Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, statutory requirements, and client engineering standards across MENA countries.
- Conduct technical audits and engineering risk reviews.
- Review and maintain engineering policies, procedures, SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure closure of engineering-related findings.
- Monitor risks associated with infrastructure aging, equipment lifecycle, and operational vulnerabilities.
- Ensure all engineering documentation remains accurate and current.
Strategy, Capacity Planning & Projects
- Support development of regional engineering and infrastructure strategies.
- Review capacity management plans relating to power, cooling, space, and resiliency requirements.
- Identify infrastructure constraints and future capacity risks.
- Provide technical input into capital projects, upgrades, expansions, and lifecycle replacement programs.
- Act as technical advisor during project design, commissioning, and handover processes.
- Ensure engineering requirements are incorporated into future business growth plans.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage relationships with specialist engineering contractors and service providers.
- Review vendor performance and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Collaborate with client representatives, project teams, operations management, and sustainability teams.
- Promote best practice sharing across sites and regions.
- Support regional training and competency development initiatives.
Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities
- Champion a strong safety culture across all facilities.
- Ensure compliance with CBRE and client Health & Safety requirements.
- Lead risk assessment reviews for critical engineering activities.
- Verify implementation of safe systems of work, permit-to-work processes, and isolation procedures.
- Support sustainability and energy management initiatives within the portfolio.
What You’ll Need:
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional Engineering qualification or equivalent technical certification.
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in mission-critical facilities or data centre operations.
- Strong understanding of critical facility infrastructure and operational risk management.
Desirable
- Data Centre certifications (CDCP, CDCS, ATD, Uptime Institute, etc.).
Experience
- Experience managing critical engineering operations.
- Proven leadership experience within large corporate, financial services, technology, or mission-critical environments.
- Strong background in data centres, critical facilities, or major infrastructure environments.
- Experience leading incident response, outage investigations, and root cause analysis.
- Experience reviewing engineering designs, commissioning activities, and infrastructure upgrades.
