The Product Owner will play a critical role in defining product vision, gathering and analyzing requirements, prioritizing features, and ensuring the successful execution of product initiatives. This role requires a deep understanding of Agile methodologies, including SAFe, and prior experience in EHR/EMR software. The Product Owner will work closely with stakeholders, including customers, engineering teams, sales, and leadership, to ensure product success.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy and Vision
- Define and communicate the product vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with market trends, customer needs, and business goals.
- Develop and maintain a product roadmap outlining planned features and enhancements.
- Ensure strategic prioritization of product initiatives based on business objectives and customer impact.
Requirements Gathering and Documentation
- Conduct customer discovery sessions and engage with stakeholders to gather requirements.
- Translate business needs into clear and concise user stories, acceptance criteria, and mock-ups for development teams.
- Ensure that all product documentation, including feature specifications, help desk articles, and tutorials, is accurate and up to date.
Agile Execution and Stakeholder Collaboration
- Lead backlog grooming and collaborate with engineering teams to refine requirements, ensuring that all development tickets meet the Definition of Ready (DoR).
- Work within Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe) to manage sprint planning, execution, and product iteration.
- Act as the primary liaison between customers, executives, sales, and development teams, ensuring transparent communication on product direction and updates.
Feature Development and Delivery
- Prioritize features based on customer impact, business strategy, and technical feasibility.
- Prevent unnecessary complexity, technical debt, and feature bloat by enforcing strong product design principles.
- Ensure timely feature delivery, iteratively engaging with customers to validate and refine product functionality.
Data-Driven Decision Making
- Collect and analyze feature usage data to drive prioritization decisions and improvements.
- Maintain key metrics on module adoption, cycle time, bug rates, and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Utilize insights from customer feedback and data analytics to enhance product offerings.
Feature Demonstration and Communication
- Confidently demonstrate new features to both existing customers and prospective clients.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to create product documentation, release notes, and marketing collateral.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Feature Completion Rate – Percentage of features delivered vs. planned roadmap per Program Increment (PI).
- Feature Usage Data – Percentage of customers actively using a feature.
- Feature Cycle Time – Time taken from analysis to production deployment.
- Bug Rate – Number of bugs reported for a module.
- Stakeholder Satisfaction Rate – Customer and stakeholder feedback on product features.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (CS) or a related field.
- 3 years of pr oven experience as a Product Owner or in a similar product management role.
- Experience in EHR/EMR software – mandatory.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, including SAFe, Scrum, and Kanban.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Asana.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret user data and feedback to drive decision-making.
