Job summary

Descon is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to join our team for work across oil & gas, refining, petrochemical, or fertilizer sectors. The role emphasizes design and project engineering, P&ID development, and equipment specifications, with field data gathering and technical documentation.

You will lead plant upgrade initiatives, participate in HAZOP and SIL studies, perform engineering calculations, and ensure compliance with international codes.

Qualifications

• Degree in chemical engineering with a focus on process design.
• 6+ years of design and project engineering experience in oil & gas, refining, petrochemical, or fertilizer sectors.
• Strong knowledge of process engineering and standards.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Process Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands‑on experience in design and project engineering across the oil & gas, refining, petrochemical, or fertilizer sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support facility developments and plant upgrade initiatives.
• Develop, review, and interpret P&IDs, equipment specifications, and data sheets.
• Prepare comprehensive process descriptions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Actively participate in HAZOP, SIL, and related process safety studies.
• Perform engineering calculations and simulation studies using standard software and calculation sheets.
• Interpret and ensure compliance with relevant international codes and standards.
• Conduct field visits for data gathering, site surveys, and as-built verification.
• Review vendor documentation, technical bids, and provide technical procurement assistance.
• Provide on-site and remote engineering support during construction and commissioning phases.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Experience: Minimum 6+ years of design and project engineering experience in the oil & gas, petroleum refining, petrochemical, or fertilizer industries.

Technical Expertise:

• Demonstrated proficiency in P&ID development, piping, and plant engineering.
• Sound background in developing process equipment specifications and instrument/equipment data sheets.
• Working knowledge of international codes and standards applicable to onshore upstream oil & gas facilities.
• Relevant professional training courses and certifications are preferred.

Core Competencies: Computer literate with strong technical, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
