Job summary

Interwood is seeking a Production Engineer for the Polish section to plan, supervise, and optimize polishing operations, ensuring production targets are met with high quality and minimal waste.

The role requires coordinating with Production Planning, Quality, Maintenance, and other teams to drive continuous process improvements, uphold safety and 6S standards, and develop supervisors and operators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• 4–5 years of relevant experience in the Polish/Paint Department of a reputable furniture manufacturing company.
• Hands-on experience in wood finishing processes: staining, sanding, color matching, PU/NC/UV coating systems, spray painting, buffing, and final finishing.
• Strong understanding of paint chemistry, wood coating systems, surface preparation, and finishing quality standards.
• Experience in process optimization, quality improvement, defect analysis, and manufacturing cost reduction.
• Knowledge of production planning, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement tools is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and monitor daily production activities of the Polish section to ensure targets are met.
• Manage polishing operations including surface preparation, staining, colour matching, sanding, coating, finishing, and final inspection.
• Monitor paint and polishing processes to ensure consistent finish quality while minimizing defects and wastage.
• Identify production and quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Optimize manpower, machine utilization, and production processes to improve productivity and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs, quality standards, and customer specifications throughout the polishing process.
• Coordinate with Production Planning, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth flow.
• Monitor KPIs, prepare production reports, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, safe chemical handling, PPE usage, and 6S workplace standards.
• Train, guide, and develop supervisors and operators on polishing processes and safety practices.
