Job summary

The World Health Organization seeks a Technical Officer (Polio) to advance poliovirus eradication and reduce vaccine-preventable diseases by strengthening national immunization and surveillance systems. You will provide technical support to Member States and WHO offices for strategy planning, emergency action plans, and capacity building.

You will help coordinate high-quality immunization activities, analyze epidemiological data, and support logistics, forecasting, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, immunization, vaccinology, health sciences, infectious disease control, global health, or international development is essential.
• First university degree in medicine or a health-related science is desirable, with field epidemiology/polio-related training advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice for national immunization strategies and polio emergency action plans.
• Strengthen surveillance systems (AFP, environmental, case-based) and laboratory networks.
• Plan, coordinate, and monitor high-quality routine and supplementary immunization activities.
• Support capacity-building and development of technical guidance and monitoring tools.
