Job summary

World Health Organization is seeking a Technical Officer (PVD) to contribute to polio eradication, immunization strengthening, and surveillance systems. The role focuses on planning, implementing and coordinating immunization activities, with attention to zero-dose and equity, across countries and partners.

The incumbentwill advise on national immunization strategies, support outbreak preparedness, and strengthen data-driven decision making while ensuring alignment with WHO guidance and health

Qualifications

• Essential: Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, immunization, vaccinology or related field.
• Desirable: First university degree in medicine or related field and/or field epidemiology, immunization programme management or data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice to Member States and WHO offices for national immunization strategies and eradication activities.
• Support planning, coordination, and monitoring of routine and supplementary immunization activities with emphasis on equity.
• Provide technical support for preparedness and response to polio outbreaks and other priority VPDs as per WHO guidance.
• Strengthen surveillance networks (acute flaccid paralysis, environmental) and associated labs through training and follow-up.
• Compile and analyze epidemiological and program data; maintain dashboards and provide actionable recommendations.
