Overview

Location: Head Office, Lahore - with extensive travel to field sites across Pakistan

Reporting to: Manager Programmes

Position Type: Contractual

Responsibilities
  • Purpose of the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nutritionist to play a pivotal role in enhancing the nutritional impact and educational outreach of our community meal programs. This position will be instrumental in a multi-phase initiative, beginning with our GAIN-funded Kitchen Upgradation Project at the Mozang (Lahore) Dastarkhwan. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating improved kitchen infrastructure into tangible health outcomes by designing nutritionally optimized menus, establishing standardized food safety and preparation protocols, and leading community-wide nutrition awareness campaigns.
  • Menu & Meal Planning: Develop scientifically-sound, culturally-appropriate, and cost-effective meal plans that maximize nutritional value, utilizing the new capabilities of our upgraded kitchen.
  • Program Development & Quality Assurance: Establish and implement standardized operational procedures (SOPs) for food handling, storage, and preparation to ensure the highest standards of hygiene and nutritional integrity.
  • Capacity Building & Training: Educate and train our kitchen staff and volunteers on the principles of nutrition, balanced meal preparation, and safe food practices.
  • Community Awareness: Design and deliver engaging nutrition education workshops and materials for our beneficiaries, empowering them with the knowledge to make healthier food choices in their daily lives.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Collaborate with our team to develop metrics for assessing the nutritional quality of our meals and the effectiveness of our awareness programs, ensuring we meet the objectives of the GAIN project and our organizational mission.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: A Master’s degree in Public Health Nutrition, Nutrition & Dietetics, Food Science, or a closely related field.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, or managing community-based nutrition or public health programs.
  • Cultural & Contextual Competency: In-depth understanding of local dietary patterns, food habits, and socioeconomic constraints. Must be able to develop culturally-sensitive and practical meal plans that are both nutritious and cost-effective.
  • Technical & Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in Urdu are essential. Proficiency in English will be a distinct advantage.
  • Training & Facilitation Skills: Proven ability to develop curriculum and confidently lead engaging training sessions for staff and educational workshops for community members.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Demonstrated experience and sensitivity in working directly with at-risk or vulnerable groups, with a specific focus on women and children.
Terms of Employment
  • Initial contract for 06 months extendable based on performance and program needs.
  • Competitive salary package based on experience and qualifications.
  • Location based in Lahore, with frequent travel to field offices and project locations across the country.
