Job summary

Indus Hospital is seeking a Nurse Assistant with 1–2 years of experience and a Matric with Diploma of Nurse Aid to join our clinical team. The role focuses on patient care, vital signs, documentation in HMIS, and supporting daily clinic operations.

You will assist in appointments, manage patient flow, maintain cleanliness and stock levels, and communicate with senior nursing staff to ensure compassionate, professional service in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Matric with Diploma of Nurse Aid is required.
• Minimum 1-2 years of relevant work experience.
• Polite communication with patients and documentation accuracy.
• Ability to learn information systems and maintain written records.
• Report concerns to senior nursing staff promptly.

Responsibilities

• Communicate politely to patients.
• Check vital signs including saturation and document in HMIS.
• Document height and weight for patients visiting the clinic.
• Assist with appointments and token system when needed.
• Maintain stock levels and report reductions to nursing staff.
• Monitor cleanliness and report issues to the registered nurse.
• Change bed sheets on clinic stretcher beds.
• Transfer and accompany patients to other departments under nurse direction.
• Demonstrate respect for patients’ wishes and diverse needs.
• Discuss difficulties with senior nursing staff.
• Learn to use information systems and maintain accurate records.
• Report untoward incidents immediately to on-duty nurses.
• Maintain awareness of patient and family emotional needs.

Job Description

• Communicate politely to the patients.
• Check vital signs including saturation of the patients and document in HMIS.
• Ensure documentation of height and weight of all patients visiting filter clinic for consultation.
• To assist in the Appointments and token system when necessary.
• To ensure that adequate stock levels are kept within the department and reporting any reduction to the nursing staff.
• Checking the day-to-day cleanliness of the department and reporting any problems to the registered nurse in charge of the department.
• Changing the bed sheets of stretcher of clinic.
• To transfer and accompany patients to other Departments within the Hospital for treatment, under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• To demonstrate the highest regard and respect for the wishes, needs and lifestyles of all patients, being accepting and non-judgmental at all times.
• To discuss any difficulties with senior nursing staff.
• To learn how to use information systems and maintain accurate written information.
• To report any concerns or untoward incidents immediately to the registered nurses on duty.
• Maintains awareness of the patient's and family's need for emotional support and understanding.
